La Reserva

House

The project responds to three conditioning factors to which it is subject for its execution: The volume and geometry as a reinterpretation of a contemporary language, the contrast between the stony and the natural in search of lightness, and the single-family dwelling inscribed in a natural

The mountain as a conditioning

The project is located in an environment with a subtropical mountain climate in Rionegro, department of Antioquia; in general, its temperature ranges between 10 and 25 degrees Celsius, here the question is clear: How to build a cozy space in such a variable environment?

The volumetric game is linked to the material selection; its major virtue is the consequence. The project is the need to execute a reform, thus, the geometry and programmatic development must be adjusted to the pre-existences without leaving aside the premise of adopting a contemporary language in the proposed design.

Material tensions.

The contrast of materials is the result of a need for adaptability in the tropics, the first level seeks to free itself from the monolith and builds a permeable base, the selection of wood and glass are the starting point to answer two questions: How to free the floor plan and allow visual and bioclimatic currents in a residential project, and how to detach the anonymity of the mass to allow domestic dynamics in relation to the outside and the inside.

Under this argument, the selection of sintered stone for the second level and the construction of a stone volume, which accompanies the more private uses of the house, is consistent with the result of the project as a formal exercise.

La Reserva

House

Inside, the block is perforated and builds spaces that challenge the robust geometry that composes it. Double height games, the use of natural light, the warmth of wood, the use of carpets and the delicacy of the internal accessories contribute to the play of contrasts and tensions that the house proposes. The ubiquity, adaptability and pure geometry allow La Reserva to be an enabler to assume the house as an intermediary between change and permanence.
